Background: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients have an increased risk for complications, especially cardiac, which are the main cause of deaths in this population. In this study, the lipid profile of these patients was analyzed before and after introduction of Anti-TNF-α. Methods: Retrospective study of 93 RA patients using anti-TNF-α. Epidemiological, clinical, lipid profile, disease activity data were collected before and six months after anti-TNF-α introduction. Results: 93 patients with mean age of 56.8 years with the prevalence of female were studied. Lipid profile before and after the introduction of Anti TNF-α had no differences. Changes in DAS28-PCR and DAS28-ESR showed that inflammation was controlled. Conclusion: It was not possible to demonstrate changes in the lipid profile after the use of anti-TNF-α, although these drugs have been effective in the control of the disease.
