Abstract

Introduction: The Leser-Trélat Sign is an abrupt cutaneous eruption, characterized by an increase in the proportion and quantity of seborrheic keratoses in a short period. This sign is a possible paraneoplastic indicator – especially when referring to adenocarcinomas. Objectives: Contribute to clinical reasoning, encouraging early diagnoses and better prognoses of the association between the Leser-Trélat Sign and neoplasms of the digestive system. Method: The report of a woman treated at the public health system for chronic itching is exposed and referred to a specialist where the Leser-Trélat Sign and cholestatic symptoms were detected. Ten months after the first appointment, she was diagnosed with duodenal papilla neoplasia. In addition, articles published in the last 10 years in indexed databases are reviewed - with the descriptor: “Leser Trélat Sign” and manually selected articles that had an association with neoplasms of the digestive system. Results: the researched cases corroborate the association between the Leser-Trélat Sign and neoplasms of the digestive system. Conclusion: Despite the scarcity of content in indexed databases in the last 10 years, the identification of the Leser-Trélat Sign can contribute to the early diagnosis of malignancy, helping its treatment and prognosis.
