An illustration is an image that conveys a message, which aims to inform, explain or help understand something. It can accompany texts or be an image that, in itself, fulfills the function of communicating. Health illustrations must be accompanied by texts. BioSCIENCE encourages its authors to submit illustrations of their care activities, which can sometimes clarify rare or less frequent situations and help with the clinical interpretation of something.
